RAYMOND W. WAGGONER M.D.1

1 Chairman, department of psychiatry, University of Michigan Medical School, and director, Neuropsychiatric Institute, University Hospital, Ann Arbor, Mich. 48104

As President of the American Psychiatric Association and as a psychiatrist deeply interested in expanding the role of psychiatry in the international sphere, Dr. Waggoner reviewed the progress made in the development and promotion of transcultural research and information exchange. He emphasizes here the potential role of psychiatry in foreign affairs and points out ways in which psychiatrists in the United States and other countries can strengthen their international organization and communications in the pursuit of common objectives.
